Safeguarding
Last updated 14 July 2026
Every member's wellbeing comes first. This policy explains how we keep circles safe and what to do if you're worried about yourself or someone else.
In an emergency
- 999 — immediate danger to life
- Samaritans 116 123 — free, 24/7, any distress
- CALM 0800 58 58 58 — men's mental health, 5pm–midnight
- Shout — text 85258 — 24/7 text support
Our commitments
- Every facilitator completes safeguarding training and holds an enhanced DBS check.
- Confidentiality within circles, except where there is risk of harm.
- A named Safeguarding Lead reachable at safeguarding@matecircle.uk.
- Clear reporting routes for members, facilitators and third parties.
Reporting a concern
If you or someone else is at risk, contact safeguarding@matecircle.uk or flag a post from within the app. Reports are triaged within 24 hours; urgent concerns are escalated to statutory services.
Boundaries of our service
MateCircle is a peer community, not a therapeutic service. Facilitators are trained to listen and signpost — not to diagnose or treat. We keep a directory of vetted therapists and services and will help you find one.
